Marsy Syreggela

Born 1993 in Thessaloniki, Greece. Lives and works between Athens and Naxos.

INTRODUCTION

She was born in Thessaloniki, Northern Greece, in 1993, and was
raised on the island of Kos. She graduated from the Faculty of Fine
Arts and School of Visual and Applied Arts of Aristotle University of
Thessaloniki, in 2019.

Later on, her necessity and love for nature made her choose between the life on the island and the city. She lives between Athens and Naxos, where she deepens her creative practice, namely stained glass and artistic jewelry, while also teaching yoga.

Her work focuses on goddesses, not necessarily on their female form or gender, but on the symbol of the feminine principle. Through each work she reveals their powers, virtues, what they carry as a symbol and personify. She seeks the deepest aspect of feminine strength, “the female energy that inhabits every being”. She further mentions: ”It is this energy that exists in the entire Universe like a Great Mother, who heals and gives birth again after death”.

In this search she was inspired by her Teacher Naya Karnava, through whom she discovered the tools of yoga and learned the Art of Life. She apprehended the connection between yoga and creative art. ‘’Both of them are tools that lead to the expansion of consciousness, which brings man closer to his true Self ’’. She was trained on the Yoga Science system, thus yoga became her everyday practice and way of life.

At the same time Marsy Syreggela is the founder and owner of the Eros Y Alma Store, at Chalki, Naxos, Cyclades.

THE STORY

“Eros Y Alma”, which means Cupid and Psyche, is a story originally from the Metamorphoses, written in the 2nd century AD by Lucius Madaurensis. The tale concerns the overcoming of obstacles regarding the love between Psyche and Cupid, and their ultimate union in a sacred marriage. Eros and Psyche appear in Greek art as early as the 4th century BC.

Eros Y Alma is a boutique stained glass brand based in Greece on the island of Naxos, but our vision is to travel all over the world and discover cultures and aesthetics through collaborations and inspiration. Eros Y Alma was born in 2020 by Marsy Syreggela, who is the artist, designer and founder. Our team is joined by friends and family members, where everyone participates in their own unique way and brings their own skill sets to the table.

Dried flower between two pieces of glass
When a flower is dried out it seems to lose its soft pedals and aromas.
It loses its lively flexibility and fancy colors.
It seems like life’s withdrawn from it, it appears like an empty vessel.
And yet this form encloses Beauty.
A Beauty Otherworldly and Harmonious.
This aspect of the flower is poetic.
The flower’s carcass is then embraced by clear transparent glass forming a
perfect relationship.
The impermanent and delicate nature of the flower has been transformed
into Immortal and Timeless.
And now this blossom, humble between two pieces of glass, recites a poem:
“I gave away all that has limited me. I offered the known, the lesser and the
fleeting. I depart from Fear and Strength I gain. I put the intention to Remember

that I’m a Greater Creature from that which they have taught me to be.
Now.

I am. Eternal.’’
