Freideriki Papastavropoulou
Born 1992 in Patras, Greece. Lives and works in Poland.
INTRODUCTION
Freiderike (Freideriki Papastavropoulou) is a multimedia artist, based in Greece and Poland, working mainly with painting and installation. She graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts and School of Visual and Applied Arts of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, in 2018.
She is the general administrator of Art of Life Collective. As a founding member, in addition to her artistic work, she is involved in organising and setting up exhibitions and interdisciplinary events. She is a creator of written content for art books and other media buplished by the collective.
In her work she depicts moments from other worlds and dimensions. With an acute observation
on the elements and worldly phenomena as her tool, she dives into another view beyond the manifested.
“In a state of inner contemplation, forms emerge that have their own will” as she describes in her own words “the work defines what it needs”. Between automation and conscious decision lies a field of equilibrium, a golden ratio. There, she seeks the relationship between the individual and the cosmic. Through this communication the process of artistic creation becomes the mirror of the Self, where only the One exists. In her artistic research she combines elements of the material and immaterial worlds. She lets their radiance and their vibrations express the intelligence and the unity of life behind the forms.
She views color as a spiritual tool, working with contrasts and creating sources of light. Oil colors are her basic means, as she recognizes in them the directness and the natural manner that are necessary in order for the subtlety of the works to become apparent. At the end of her studies after she had experienced a dead end upon her artistic work, she came to realize that, as she herself conveys: “I refused to believe that the path of art is necessarily difficult and confrontational. A new mindset was gradyally developed, it was a certainty that there is another way to be perceived after a necessary transcendence of thought. After realising this, I asked guidance from the Universe”.

The artistic work is the co-product of an extended vision on art, the Art of Life. I see art as a service, with the purpose to channel energy. The images on the canvases arise from the need to create a physical depiction of something beyond reckognised matter, to capture some of the glamour of other worlds. Within this two-dimensional space on the canvas and within the range of my abilities and materials, an impression is instilled.
It’s a journey where I feel like a wayfarer who wants to capture some of the light or a stone to remember the places she has been. These mementos are my artworks. All this endeavor to connect the seen with the unseen , I believe, helps people to raise their gaze, to see the depth of their own world. For me, art is a gate of remembrance, both the final work and the process.
